Who is handling the production for you right now?
I got my man Double-O.. Chase Boogie he's doing all the production right now, the whole album. He's a super producer,
son just be doing like twenty beats a day, shit is crazy.
Well let me talk to Chase for a minute... sup' man? The way Shig is putting you out there, tell me how did you became this
mad beat scientist.
I used to DJ and my man Spliff Star, the kid who be hyping up Busta Rhyme's shows... We grew up together, so he knew I was djing so nigga snatched me up
and brought me by his man June and I just started rocking from there. He got a MPC and I just learned off of it, started sampling, making beats
everyday.. and that was it.
A lot of producers are trying to avoid sampling now because of the fees and legal mess involved with it. How do you feel about sampling?
---->
That's how I started man, so I'm gonna always use samples but I just know how to flip my shit. I don't have to just loop shit, if I loop it it's because I really want to, but I can take a little piece of anything
and make a beat out of it.
Well if you are using samples I can't hear them...
That's what I'm saying. Plus I'm starting to mess with the keyboards but it's like whatever.. as long as the shit is hot. People just want to hear hot shit and I got
mad variety with it to, so every time you hear something it's gonna be another vibe, some other shit.
Have any producers out there inspired what you do?
Primo, he is at the top of the list. Tribe called Quest. EPMD... them niggas was hot. If I had to say one person though it would be Primo because
I like to take a sample and flip it, so you don't even realize that your listening to a sample. He does that a lot but I'm my own nigga so when you
listen to my shit it's always gonna be different from the next man, not because I'm trying, but because it just comes out that way naturally.
We're coming to the end of this...
----- I have interrupt to right here.
I'm all real, so I'll tell you... my damn tape
recorder conked out somewhere towards the end of the interview. That's them cheap "one dollar" Duracells they sell in the subways.
Anyway, I rode around with these
kids listened to like 45 minutes worth of material and believe me there is some hotness cooking in the kitchen. Do yourself a favor
and download the single and sampler. It's only a taste of what's to come.
If your interested in contacting them hit me up on the e-mail at click@whudat.com
I'm going to buy some batteries.
