Teairra Mari, Sincerely Yours
Teairra Mari - Sincerely Yours
 (Def Jam)

- reviewed by Danitha Jones

Teairra Mari is no longer searching for boys to make her feel good. Please, she's grown. Nowadays, her radar is set on men, money and another shot at a major music debut. The muddled trail of swimsuits, wet towels and martini glasses left behind from Mari's recently released mixtape, Point of No Return, has led fans to the very promising EP, Sincerely Yours.

The opening track, "Uneasy," is an up-tempo track about a relationship lacking trust. In an almost rap-like flow, Mari sings "So what the sex good/ I could find another, no problem I look good." The EP features her single "Sponsor," which ushered her back into the spotlight. Though an obvious hit, and maybe an anthem for some, it faced heavy criticism from fans for the inappropriate message it sent out to young females: it ain't tricking if he got it. She sings "He must be a rapper, baller, doctor, dentist/ Corner boy, cook, chef, chemist/ don't even care/as long as he don't say "bye-bye-bye-bye."
The EP closes with "Stranger," a jaw-dropping ballad about a lost love. It's obvious Teairra Mari has grown up and with those years came experience that helped her balance out a mix of emotions on this man-crazy EP.

Though the overload of the male-focused songs seem a bit cliché, this project is a successful reintroduction to the talented female fans fell in love with back in 2005. During the Rocafella Presents: Teairra Mari days there was never any doubt that she could sing and possibly take the industry by storm. With her two popular singles "Make Her Feel Good" and "No Daddy" she cultivated the voice of young girls and captured the eyes of guys. Unfortunately, she was dropped from Roc-A-Fella Records. Five years later, Teairra Mari is back with a new game plan and better ammo, ready to take a second shot at the industry. With Sincerely Yours, there is a good chance that she won't miss.
