Ashanti Still #1
Ashanti is still at the top of the Billboard Top 200 Chart this week.
She has sold another 190,000 copies of her CD simply titled Ashanti. This
just shows how easily the American buying public is fooled. I won't go on
and on about what a mess the CD really is, but I will say that it's geared
toward the 13-17 age group, which I'm sure makes up the majority of the
people running out to cop the album. Well good for her, because all of us
non-singers out in the world know damn well if someone gave us a record
deal we'd be up there sounding like crap and not her.
I saw her on Jay Leno last night and she didn't sound half bad, she didn't sound half good either,
but it was pleasant enough to listen to. She has no stage presence at all.
She just stands on stage with her hand under her chest sort of like a
dinosaur ready to strike or like a panting dog. She looks like she's waiting
for Ja Rule to run out and save her. She and her mother keep talking about
how this was a 9 year struggle and she is lacking things like vocal ability
and stage presence? Her ass should have had some formal training during
those 9 years. No stage presence will kill an artist quicker than a heart
attack. Look what happened to Tamia, and she could blow. Anyway, it looks as
though Ashanti is taking J-Lo's spot as #1 industry pimp with no talent.
Congratulations to her, though I don't see her being around that long. A
cuter, even less talented girl will pop up soon, just like she did and
she'll be gone.
Anger Management
The Anger Management Tour is back this summer. The tour will feature Eminem,
Xzibit, and Papa Roach, all acts who performed on the tour last summer. This
year Ludacris and The X-ecutioners will be joining the roster. All of the acts will be dropping
albums this summer which will coincide with the tour, with the exception of
Ludacris, who is still dropping singles from his last album Word Of Mouf.
There is no set date that this tour kicks off, but Eminem's people say it
will likely be June 24, venue unknown.
What better way to promote a new album than a tour? Well, sounds good. This
should be a good tour. I always wanted to go to a show on The Anger
Management Tour, just because I liked the name. Does this surprise anyone?
All in all, I don't know any cities or dates as of yet and if I think anyone
will be interested, when they are available, I'll keep you posted.
Mariah Carey
Mariah Carey is working on her latest album. Granted, she has no label or
anything such as that, but she's working on an album none the less. Among
other things she's working with DJ Quik, who claims he "took her to the
clubs and the lowriders." According to MTV, DJ Quik claims that Mariah is
serious and he thinks her last album, Glitter was a hoax.
I don't know what the hell goes on with DJ Quik on the West Coast, but we on this
side of the U.S. do not listen to anything he does, nor do we want to hear
this mess he is making with Mariah? Taking her to low riders? We don't have
any low riders over this way. Not enough to mention.
Poor Mariah, one minute she's the hottest thing under the sun and the next
she is homeless in the music industry. Well her ass should have never
married Tommy Mottola, then she wouldn't have had to divorce him and he
wouldn't have black listed her ass in the industry. We all know Tommy holds
alot of weight in that industry and if he wants Mariah to flop, then she's
gonna flop. Def Jam will have her, they'll have any damn body.
I feel bad for Mariah. She is just as lost as she doesn't want to be, and there seems to be nothing
she can do about it. The bitch is filthy rich, she needs to retire and stay
home and sing around the house, because at this point no one is interested in
hearing any new music from her.
Coolio
I won't get too far into this, but Coolio is coming out with a new album
this summer. It's scheduled to be released in June and titled
Coolio2002.com.
Is he for real? He claims that the album is going to be hot. When the hell
was Coolio ever hot? He is like 54 years old and still trying to be a part
of hip hop, when there is not, nor was there ever, a place for him. I guess
Tone Loc will dropping an album next. Moving right along.

Yun Kyeong Sung Kwon, the woman who is suing Celine Dion's husband, Rene
Angelil, for sexual assault, was arrested in Pasadena, CA yesterday. She has
been charged with writing $500,000 in bad checks. The checks were made out
to casinos, Harrah's and The Flamingo. Okay, good one lady. You're suing this
man and now it's painfully obvious to everyone involved that you need money
and have a gambling problem. I can see this whole little snafu being thrown
right out of court.
Mike Tyson
You guys remember Mitchell Rose. He's the guy that got beat up outside of a
club in Brooklyn by Mike Tyson back in December. Well he is now suing Mike
for $66 million. Mitchell Rose's mink coat was torn by Mike Tyson, but his
only true injury was a sprained neck. Rose's lawyer claims that his spine
was injured when he was hit in the neck. Likely story. I don't know any
judge that would award anyone that kind of money for a sprained neck, even
if Mike Tyson did it. I think Mitchell is reaching way too high and his case
needs to be thrown out of court. The judge should order Mike to pay his
medical bill for the neck injury and replace the mink coat he tore and keep
it moving.
Wendy Williams and Funkmaster Flex
Wendy spent a good deal of time talking about Hanukkah 97, I mean Hot 97's
Funkmaster Flex and all the b.s. going on in his realm. Ya'll know the
alleged baby he had with Haydee Diaz? That's all well and good, but Wendy is
giving Flex way too much attention. He's a loser, simple and plain, and a waste of her time.
It's interesting, don't get me wrong, but she is beating it to death.
She has a countdown to the day the DNA results are in on May 3.
I could not care less if he fathered 10 babies outside of his
marriage. What would really make it interesting would be if Wendy got this
girl up there and interviewed her. I would love to hear her side of this
sordid Story. Obviously she wants attention, so the bitch needs to go talk
to Wendy. What better platform will she have to do so? No, his wife needs to
come up there and talk to Wendy. That would be good. It's been obvious since
Wendy's days at that other station, that she and Flex were not friends and
she is really going at him with this one. He's wack. He is like the male
version of that dick rider, Angie Martinez. Well for those who catch Wendy
she will definitely keep you posted and for those that don't, I'm here for
you and when it all goes down, I'll let you know.
Monica
Monica held a listening party for her latest album, earlier this week at the
W Hotel in NYC. She offered a sneak peak of 6 new songs.
The album is to be released on J Records. The tentative release date is July
23. I love Monica and I think she has a voice that most of these so called
singers need but don't have. She has been hiding out for the longest time.
It's being rumored that she has a 4 year old daughter. She claims that she
is raising the daughter or her deceased ex boyfriend, but everyone is saying
that she is this child's birth mother. It's alleged that she will be telling
the world all about having a child soon. It is also rumored that they are
working on her image to make her heir to the Whitney Houston throne. Come
on now, Whitney's throne is currently a folding chair. Anyway, once Brandy
comes out Monica is usually not far behind. Again, our easily tricked
American public never takes to Monica the way they take to Brandy and we all
know which of the two of them is really a singer.
Nelly and Eve
It is rumored that Nelly is dating Eve. I don't know if there's any truth to
this rumor at all, but it's said that they began dating during the TRL tour.
Well that's a match made in hell. He looks like a loser and she has that
sharp ass Jay Leno chin. Well her chin has nothing to do with it, but she is
linked to a new guy each day and Nelly doesn't fit with the list. Oh well, if
they're together more power to them.
106 and Park Observation
I was watching this show, which is something I don't normally do as I don't
have a translator on hand to tell me what Free and A.J. are saying in their
native tongue. The other day I noticed that Free's belly looked very
big. Pregnant big. Now I am not starting a rumor, I'm just saying. She was
at some point working with a trainer and I don't see how or why her legs and
arms look fine and her stomach is protruding like it never was in her
pre-trainer days. I just noticed because it wasn't like that before. Watch
106 and Park and if she wears the wrong shirt you'll see what I mean.
