Celebrity Watching Goes the Way of the Text Message - 2:16 p.m.
This picture of Jamie Foxx and Megan Good was sent to me early this month. I'll leave the salacious comments to you, or simply sum it up, "Yes, Jamie Foxx is smashing everything in his path." It's one of the benefits of having your celebrity card upgraded from Booty Call (luv that movie) to being marked with the platinum dipped Oscar Winner stamp. What's crazy is it looks like someone was hiding in the bushes with the zoom lens the whole time.
Did word from a cousin on the hotel staff come through? 'Yo, Jamie Foxx is here with that young girl from Roll Bounce!' Not that they'd use that reference, but it puts the age gap in a little perspective. Maybe the person was popping the trunk of their car and spotted them walking down the street. The main thing is that in these times of cell phones, digital cameras and always on internet communications there is no place safe if you're anywhere near being an important person to the star loving masses, you've got to know that your every move is being watched. Mofos will talk about you wiping your ass crack. I would talk about it. Some celebs bitch and moan about the paparazzi, but it's the price they pay for the million dollar comforts they enjoy from day to day. Forget speeding through traffic to escape the photog's flash.. there is no escape. It used to be that you'd have to wait a week or months to see paparazzi pictures in National Enquirer or Star magazine. That wall was knocked down the day that blogs were birthed. Now you don't even need a camera to put a star in focus. Seen in New York.

These were all taken from Gawker's newest section: Stalker. People email them celebrity sightings and they're posted for all to enjoy. I don't consider myself a celebrity whore, yet I find it fascinating to know that Karl Lagerfeld's hair was nice and healthy. Little info like that from the trenches, that's just a great idea. Although you'd have to think that eventually you'd get people emailing things that just aren't true at all. Taking it one step further NY based Upoc has a free text message service that keeps people updated on celebrity sightings. In the same manner as Gawker's messages but with 150 team members armed with Razrs the messages are sent directly to your cell phone. Umm.. I sound like I'm selling the service or something. Not at all. This kind of celebrity watching has been around for decades in the gossip section of your local paper, but relatively new in this form on the web. If it really becomes blood thirsty it could become a problem as noted by Scott Gordon, deputy district attorney in Los Angeles County's Stalking & Threat Assessment Unit (did you know they even had such a thing?) He says, "'We deal with the impact of technology every day. 'This one could certainly be a challenge." For sure. There is no way to stop someone from talking about what or who they saw on the street. If you're a waiter sneaking off to text from the bathroom about a celebrity customer, you might be looking for a new job. Other than that, paparrazi haters are screwed. I say embrace the attention. What's that line? Any publicity is good publicity unless it involves kiddie porn or butt sex. comments (25) |

Was at Faces & Names (or as I call it Faces & Douches). Drinking by the fireplace when Robin Givens politely asked if the couch was free. She was very nice and quite pretty. Had a ton of make-up on. had just finished a Chicago performance, I think
