Mariah Carey is canceling spots all over her personal calendar. She was supposed to be a guest on The View next Monday - not any more. A performance at the Dubai Festival Resort - I’m kinda busy now. Interviews on British radio stations - I’m not a morning person. It’s the glow of new love blinding outside distractions. So it was surprising to see Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon together at Lincoln Center last night for Time Magazine’s Most Influential People in the World event.

It was their first time in the public eye since they got matching tattoos (there is something weird going on with the lights in that picture, her face isn’t melting.)

Look at that picture. If you weren’t sure if Angela Bassett looked anything like Voletta Wallace, that’s proof positive the Notorious casting director got it right. As filming of Notorious continues (it began on March 23,) over at notoriousblog.net the folks involved with the film are keeping a decent set of updates.

They’ve just started to post videos. The first is a “Hey, my name is..” to introduce the cast and crew.

I’ve read some sketchy things about the script, but it seems like they’re intent on making a really good movie. I’ll reserve judgment on that until the private screening.

Since stealing the show in Dreamgirls, Jennifer Hudson is known more as an actress than a singer. I’m sure she has that Oscar sitting right next to the salt and pepper shaker on her dining room table.
But does anyone else believe her role in Sex and The City will be one of those blinked and missed it deals? If you’ve seen the trailer, you wouldn’t know she was in it at all. I always thought she was there to get sistas in seats, but if that’s the strategy, New Line is whispering the word out to keep expectations low. One scene and .. Cut! Hey, maybe it’ll give her time to work on that album.

Theo, Rudy, and Olivia aka The Cosby Show kids are forever painted with that goody gum drops colored brush. It’s why some people are posting this story about Keshia Knight Pulliam’s latest career move with a side-eyed look.

Tyler Perry cast her in his next movie Madea Goes to Jail. Rudy.. I mean, Keshia will play Candy, a prostitute who Madea meets in jail. If you’re familiar with the play, you may know Candy as Katie. This would be scandalous news if Keshia was actually seen on a dark street chasing down $20’s, but it’s a movie.. a Tyler Perry movie. Which are about as tame as.. The Cosby Show. Yes, Bill would approve.

I Am Legend didn’t seem like much until that first shot of a deserted Times Square. Loved the movie. Hated the trailer. Hancock looks to be following that same path. When the trailer is shown in theaters people tend to just look in bored silence. You can hear the popcorn crunching five rows away. I will say this - comments on movie blogs are very enthusiastic. Lots of “can’t wait,” “sweeeeet,” and “kool"-aids. With a July 2, prime-time summer blockbuster position, it’s likely Will Smith will pull off another box office smash.

The first Hancock cast interviews are starting to leak out.
