Happy birthday to Melyssa Ford! Today is her 32nd birthday. Last night there was a celebrity birthday party in her honor at Runway in NYC. There isn't much in the way of celebs in these pictures, but that is Kerry Brothers, Alicia Keys-ex(?). Busta Rhymes should have never cut his dreds off; today he looks like just another rapper. Busta still sparks a live performance like few can; lyrics are intact; music still bangs.. but that extra something is missing that used to put him over the top; Jay-Z called it animated. Busta Rhymes sat down with MTV to discuss his collaboration with Nas on "Fried Chicken." Busta says it's one of the best songs he's ever recorded. I'm sure 90% of his fans would differ, but that's sort of the way artists think in general: their personal best is rarely on a top 10 list. Busta admitted that he got off the subject in the song: Nas said all there was to say about chicken, so he stepped on the pork. "I know how much we love pork, as black people. The same way we love fried chicken. Hands down the beat of the year is Lil Wayne's "A Milli" A song that Lil Wayne didn't touch right. Had he owned it it wouldn't have inspired every rapper with 16 bars in them to jump on it too. Busta Rhymes is surprisingly not on that Chorus Line. He was at home digging through the stacks of CDs he had from Bangladesh - the producer of the beat. more..

These days, there aren't many hip-hop records that deserve repeat plays; got the DJ taking it back to the top multiple times in a row. Busta Rhymes "Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See"? That was six, seven times, no one in the clubs ever got tired of hearing it. Any DJ that didn't pull up, didn't deserve to be in the booth. After a little siesta, Busta Rhymes is warming up for a return; this time with a new nickname ~ "The Godfather of the Club Banger." I heard this in my car this afternoon.
