Tomorrow night we'll all be watching the Oscars and chatting it up twenty ten style via Twitter. For her role in Precious, Gabourey Sidibe has won an NAACP Image award, an Independent Spirit award and is up for an Oscar in the best actress category, where a win will even put smiles on the losers faces. Even if she does win - which I hope she does - Gabourey is going to have to take on vastly different roles in the future, to prove she can portray more than a school of hard luck teenager. more..

Remember the post about Zoe Saldana being cast as Lieutenant Uhura in the new Star Trek? There were some questions if Zoe was right for the role - at least around here. Well, Vincent Williams at the Baltimore City Paper too.. "I have to say, at first I wasn't too excited about Zoe Saldana being cast in the role of Nyota Uhura because I didn't think she had the acting heft or the looks to play the role. Now, this is where my wife rolls her eyes when she reads this, because she thinks I'm going to say it should have gone to Kerry Washington, because my wife thinks I'm obsessed with Kerry Washington. But, see, Kerry Washington would have been perfect, because she's so pretty, and she has such a commanding presence, and she just seems like she smells like strawberries, and she probably loves Madlib.. Last mentioned around these parts regarding her birthday festivities in Las Vegas, Zoe Saldana has also been busy on her day job. She recently finished up work in "Vantage Point" (It's about the assassination of the president) and is currently on the set of James Cameron's sci-fi flick "Avatar." It looks like Zoe Saldana will keep her head above the clouds for her next role when she tackles the part of Lieutenant Uhura in the next Star Trek movie, the 11th in the series. Uhura, commonly known as the black chick in the original Star Trek, was the chief communications officer, so there will be lots of spinning around from a control board, one hand on her earpiece, 'Captain.. we have something here!' Of course Uhura was also known for her mini-skirt action. If not Zoe's acting, how she looks in that skirt is oh so important. more..
