Barack Obama in Germany: This is What Change Looks Like

This afternoon Barack Obama drew close to 200 thousand people to Tiergarten Park in Berlin, Germany. They were there to find out first hand what this Obama mania is all about. Germany was the
fourth country on his overseas trip. I like to call it, the getting to know you tour.

His speech was a call for unity from Germany in correcting the mistakes made in the last eight years: as we make plans to leave Iraq, face more military challenges in Afghanistan and do all possible not to get into one with Iran.

If there was any doubt about how Barack Obama will be viewed by other world leaders, this trip has squashed them. The very cynical are mumbling that he’s acting like he’s President already and the friendly reception is somehow a bad thing. What they are really twisted up about is the (I hate to say this) change he now so obviously would bring to the White House and to our perception around the world.

The feel of this trip is the kind of change I voted for and will vote for again in November. It’s also what John McCain could never provide. Can anyone honestly say John McCain would have gotten this kind of response if he took the same trip?
