Call it Freaky Friday: Tim Russert Dies of a Heart Attack

The Friday shocks continue. This afternoon Tim Russert collapsed and died from a heart attack. Every Sunday morning (or night if I missed it) Meet the Press was must see TV. If for nothing else than the style of interviewing that Tim Russert was known for. That addiction started during the Iraq war. It was the place for political news. And a few weeks ago, courtesy of his one hour interview show, I discovered a ton of things about Barbara Walters. Without a doubt this is a monumental loss to NBC. He was the giant of their news team. The most respected.

There was never a tabloid tone to his stories.

He mentored the reporters on staff, inspired them to take journalism seriously. In this year’s primaries, in particular, he was on the edge of his seat with excitement about the race. Without taking sides, he loved watching history in the making and looked forward to November like a kid before Christmas morning.

All political news junkies have love for this guy.

A heartfelt Rest in Peace.
