Cassidy: “It’s Not Smart For Jay-Z To Come Out on Nov. 6th”
Cassidy was interviewed by SOHH and said he didn’t think it would be smart for Jay-Z to drop American Gangster on the same date as his album. Did you know Cassidy had an album coming out Nov. 6th? Now you do..
“I think right now with the way that I got the hood on smash and the way that my song is popping, I don’t think it would be a smart decision for Hov to drop on Nov. 6th. With the type of buzz, the type of songs he got out right now. It ain’t like when Vol. 1 or Vol.2 dropped. It’s a lot different. But it’s gonna be beneficial. The same way that Kanye and 50 both benefited from dropping on the same day, I think if I drop with somebody as legendary as Hov I can’t do nothing but benefit.”
I’ll preface this by saying Cassidy has talent, “Drink and My 2 Step” is ripping in clubs, but this type of confidence is a perfect example of rappers, local singers, whatever, who get a local buzz, friends telling them how great they are, a song hot in three area codes, allowing that high to blow their heads up into cuckoo puffs. He’s talking about benefiting? Jay-Z’s audience is not Cassidy’s.
He’s worldwide, Cassidy is lucky if he’s known in Kansas. Cassidy is not in the same lane, and Hov’s age, lackluster material, even if he can torch him in a battle, doesn’t give him any advantage in a race.
This idea that Jay-Z vs. Cassidy is in any way comparable to 50 vs. Kanye is damn near Sherri Sheppard-esque, simply because Jay-Z isn’t even gonna acknowledge something like that.
I feel like I’m saying the sky is blue, water is wet ..the world is round, there is nothing to debate.
