Dame Dash shouts it out

Dame Dash Speaks on Jay-Z/Chris Brown: School Him, Don’t Screw Him

The second biggest criticism of the BET awards (the first: BET’s off-key MJ tribute,) was Chris Brown being pushed out of the night’s events by Jay-Z. You know the story - “Chris Brown Cut from BET Awards by the Ultimate Hustlers.” Even though it was one night, Chris Brown’s performance had the potential to wave away some of the negative vibes surrounding him since he used Rihanna’s head like a pinata.

Dame Dash, who found out the hard way about Jay-Z’s hustle game, was asked what he thought about Chris Brown getting chopped:

“He’s 17

That makes perfect sense!

Rewind (or play it) if you didn’t get grasp that jewel..

Although Dame Dash’s logic is on target, the video ends quick. I wonder if an off-topic question was asked. Something like, how you doing? You alright? A white v-neck tee, unkept looking facial hair, saggy energy. That is not the guy at Roc-A-Fella, laughing loud, popping tags daily, and talking about carving a clear path to his first billion.

I like Dame, thought he did a lot to build and nurture the Roc. Did everyone in the industry slam a door in his face when sides were picked? You would think he’d have a Plan D.

Maybe that is Plan D. I’m just saying, it’s an unfortunate look.

That BET “tribute” to Michael Jackson was really sad and pathetic. I was thoroughly disappointed. I really like Jamie Foxx but I was not pleased at all with his performance. Everything about the 2009 BET Awards seemed so last minute and thrown together. These people are supposed to be professionals – this was the best they could do? I know it was last minute, but it was their choice to remake the show into a tribute to MJ – some tribute.
As far as the rumor (or truth) about Jay-Z, Beyonce, and Al Sharpton boycotting a Chris Brown performance well – if a performer was going to be banned – the least they could have done was provided decent performances themselves.  Jay-Z’s performance seemed to disrespect all other performers while exalting Jay-Z himself – but didn’t make much sense. I have never thought Jay-Z was a good rapper, so I may be biased. I also lost any hope of having any respect for Jay-Z after watching various Internet videos of him physically abusing women. In one video Jay-Z appeared to be slamming a woman in her face just because she was an over exuberant fan. Hypocrisy is funny sometimes – this is not one of those funny times.
Speaking of hypocrisy, what on earth was Beyonce doing singing a song which included bars from Ave Maria while dressed in a beaded bathing suit? Adding wings and a see-though skirt did not do anything to make her look any less skankish or the song sound any more holy. It was such a contradiction that I didn’t know what to make of it. You have to do more than sing the song; you also have to walk-the-walk and dress the part. I have always said that Beyonce has too much talent to always be showing her behind, thighs, and breast while gyrating like a common whore trying to generate more income – but I guess if she doesn’t think so what I think really doesn’t matter.

Speaking of thinking better of herself – is it just me or does anyone else think that Jay-Z seems to spend too much time with, talking about, and protecting the honor of Rhianna? I just read where Rhianna and Jay-Z were seen partying all over the place the weekend of Diddy’s white party (they were not there – I’m just referencing it because it was the same weekend or night). Not once was Beyonce’s name mentioned in the articles. Now I understand that Jay-Z is Rhianna’s manager and she supposedly was flirting with Jay-Z’s friend, but I am sure that I am not the only person to have seen that cover/cloak before. But hey – if Beyonce is cool with it – who am I to point out the seemingly obvious (though not as obvious as Rhianna’s pasties)?

What did either Jay-Z or Beyonce’s performance have to do with Michael Jackson? Nothing. Nothing at all.
Anyway, bottom line is that that “tribute” was supposed to be about Michael Jackson, not Jay-Z or Chris Brown or anyone else. If Chris Brown could have paid homage to Michael Jackson better than some of the crap that was performed, then he should have been allowed to perform. I truly hope BET plans to really pay tribute to Michael Jackson – a real one – a planned and practiced tribute. I also hope that the executives don’t allow performers and political figures to dictate who gets to be a part of any future productions. If someone threatens to pull out – let them. They are the ones giving up needed exposure. If Jay-Z or Beyonce had not performed in the 2009 BET Awards show – I don’t it would have been any worse than it was – heck – it may have even been better. Like many before me have said, that “tribute” was horrible. I want a “do-over.” Get it right this time.

I don’t usually have time to read excerpts on the internet but I stumbled across this website in my attempts to familiarize myself more with the internet. I couldn’t agree more with some of the comments I’ve read about the BET Tribute to MJ. It was HORRIBLE! Jamie Fox is not an Emcee, he’s a clown whose always looking for attention. Chris Brown would have done a better job as Emcee, or even Usher. I also agree that Jay Z and Beyonce’s “performances” had nothing to do with MJ, it was all about them and it was boring. Why wasn’t Jennifer Hudson or Mariah Carey invited? They know how to entertain you? Chris Brown would have done a spectacular MJ impression but I understand he was barred from the show by Jay Z of all people. See here is where Jay Z needs to be helping a brother instead of dissing him. Chris Brown is young and hopefully will be around much longer than Jay Z will be, and he can stand to learn a thing or two. Maybe Jay Z’s not wanting Chris Brown to attend the show so that he can spend uninterrupted time with Rihanna himself!
At least Chris can dance like MJ. And what the hell was that Beyonce call herself singing? And what was the clothes change abou? I didn’t and still don’t get it. I agree that the next time BET gets a performer who threatens to pull out if so-and-so is also asked to perform, they should let them pull out. BET should have thrown Lil Wayne and his gang out on the street. They need to be monitored before they are allowed to perform. In fact all of Lil Wayne’s material needs to be on pay per view. If people had to pay to hear the crap Lil Wayne spits out he’d be looking for a 9-to-5 and I wouldn’t be forced to “change the channel!”

in response to Needs to Be Said Repeat part I, just for the record, that video that you saw of jay-z appearing to slap a woman in the face. He was actually playing with a girl that he grew up with and pushed her face as many people do with those we are PLAYING with. You really should do more research before you start to make judgements about people based on a 9 second video.
