David Banner on The Wendy Williams Experience: Good Til That Last Drop

I haven’t listened to The Wendy Williams Show in months, this afternoon I’m glad I broke that chain. Mississippi’s own David Banner was at the station. There to promote his new Adult Swim cartoon “That Crook’d Sipp”

He quickly got the business out of the way and went into a few other things worth reverberating through the net.

Music $$$ vs. Hollywood $$$

On thing I want to tell all entertainers and rappers. We have a tendency to be late, a tendency not to work hard, not to show up because we’re big in certain sectors. But when you transfer into that other money, you can’t be late. You can’t not show up. They don’t care nothing about the money you make.

The money we make in rap, I’m telling y’all just straight up this is not bragging… Yeah, it is bragging.. I donate my rap money to charity. That ain’t no money.

Something for Nicky Mac

I just recently broke up with my girlfriend, like six months ago.

Hurricane Katrina’s Aftermath and His Album Flopping

“My album dropped the Tuesday after Katrina. I didn’t promote my album one time when I went on TV. I actually spent all of my time talking about Katrina and raising awareness. One thing that happened that people don’t know about, New Orleans was affected by Katrina but the storm never hit New Orleans. The eye of the storm hit Mississippi and up to 16 million dollars was allocated to rebuilding the levees but the government in New orleans only used $8 million. Instead of patching the levees up, they should have rebuilt the levees..”

Where’s the Jewelry, Man? You’re Lacking

My new motto is we don’t buy chains, we buy planes.

Tearing down the Blinged Out Facade My father is recovering from brain and lung cancer. I’d like to thank everbody that sent their prayers up, because he was supposed to die three years ago. I said I was gonna say that this year because after I went through what I went through in 06’, I said I was gonna be honest with these kids. Cause they see us on TV, we ballin’ and we smiling and we laughing and they don’t think we human. They don’t think we got people dying. They dont think we got people trying to rob us and kill us. They just see what see on TV and don’t understand that we people too. So I have a tendency to let people know what’s going on in my life, so when I don’t call you back or I don’t hit you back up on Myspace..

The Attack on Hip-Hop

I want to say something, and I mean this to the day that I die, Stephen King can make horror movies, he can kill kids, he can degrade God, but they call it horror movies. Arnold Schwarzenegger can blow up the whole planet and become the governor. If that be the case, why can’t young black men talk about the things that they actually see and it be horror music?

I’m so frustrated and upset with my older leaders *cough* Jesse Jackson.

It upsets me to see them crucify their kids.

It also upsets me that our upper-echelon music people, won’t step up because they’re afraid they’re gonna lose their sponsors.

They’re crucifying young black men and they do it because they know no one is going to come to our aid.

Convict Muuuuzikkk

Why did hip-hop not stand up for Akon? There was no reason for that man’s Verizon account to be taken. It was not his responsibility to make sure that a girl was carded when he don’t own the club.

These are the things going on and we have black people who are hosting shows and who are helping to crucify young black men. Tell Oprah to bring me to her show. Bring T.I. Bring Snoop. Maybe we just don’t know better, maybe we need a hug.

Nigga, What? Nigga Who?

I admit there are some things we need to change in hip-hop, but we shouldn’t air it out in front of all of these other people. We should pull our children aside and talk to them behind doors.

We have to study trends more as black people. There were times when they called you the n-word and you didn’t have a choice, but accept it. As black people - I call it the Soul Food mentality - we have to digest that word and make it a little bit easier for us to deal with.

Now we making money off it and it’s a problem, and they been calling us that word for over 350 years.

It’s not about us degrading, because we’re only doing what we seen the slave master do.

That’s where he lost everyone in the room.

Wendy was in love with him until that entire rant (I chopped it up).

The record button was lit.

Have at it.

That cartoon looks like it might actually be good. I wonder what it’s going to be about. He seems real political these days, so I wonder how he’s going to work his views and beliefs into the cartoon.

I watch adult swim what the hell was that cartoon about I’m totally lost and I played it about a hundred times what the hell??? I know most of those cartoons on cartoon network don’t make sense at all… and this one fits right in… it’s not making sense at all..

I don’t understand David is he that dumb or what?!! We don’t have a freaking slave master!!!! We have Black History we have “Roots” to learn about slavery!!

We are not freaking slaves.. Was David Banner born a slave I mean what the f**k is he talking about?? He’s defending the word Nigger like a dumb ass..That fool needs to see “Roots” and see Kunta Kente get whooped a couple times for his name and shit.. David was high during this interview wasn’t he..

What David fails to understand we have a right to say “Hey we aren’t Niggers anymore” Instead of saying “Hey we’re just some Niggers like you want us to be let’s embrace it..”

David, white people aren’t calling us n***rs like back in the day we’re calling each other Niggers now that’s the point fool. We just say Nigga because that’s how we talk like trigga Likka figga
and all the rhyming words that you rappers use that go with nigga. It’s not slang…for something else like homey.. Open your eyes.. You’re basically putting us back into modern day slavery 2000.. Nigger is back and ain’t going nowhere..Because We have now transformed Nigger into the healthy friendly word Nigga.

3 Rappers are freaking dumb asses Sat, May 26, 2007 - 12:59 am

Anytime you call yourself a slave name and then defend it you’re as dumb
as a Nigger hmm I wonder if Nigger is in the dictionary David Banner needs to look it up.

Sincerely
Buttafly

buttafly- is u stupid or something? what are u 15? u just contradicted yourself. how can u say David Banner is trying to embrace the word n***r and we have the right to oppose it and blah, blah ,blah but then u say nigga is back and we transformed it into a “healthy friendly word” (HEALTHY WORDS, HUH?)? I see why u didnt understand the cartoon, ya too stupid! Are u high?

I think that is kind of stupid to embrace the word nigga. To tell you truth it’s not anything to defend it’s a word that needs to be taken out the mouth of people. Why is it so hard to remember and move on. People beat one race down like everyone of that race approved of slavery. There was plenty whites trying to help a slave so don’t down the race as a whole, down the people who did it. But it’s time for a change and that change is to move on and everybody work together that’s the only way the U.S. will come back.
