Dawn Richard Speaks on Chris Brown and Rihanna + “If I Could”

Someone should stitch together all of the celebrity responses to the Chris Brown and Rihanna mess. Actually, I don’t know that they would be anything different than what we the people have been saying. I personally think they’ve both done permanent damage to their careers: Chris Brown post-fight photo and Rihanna post-reconciliation.

There is another view that the situation has been blown up and people need to let them work it out beyond the blog posts, TV, radio, and gossip magazine covers.

Dawn Richards holds that opinion. Speaking to MTV she said..

“It’s a shame and I think it’s their business and it sucks that it has to be out there. The media attention is like a microscope — everybody’s in your stuff. It’s their business and whatever they choose to do with it, I wish them luck. It’s not my business. I wish that everybody would back off and let them deal with it the way they deal with it.”

Letting it play out in private would be nice, but in the real world this story is far from disappearing. In April, after the continuance of his arraignment, Chris Brown is rumored to be doing a run of the talk shows to tell his side of the story. No doubt Rihanna will walk that same path. Hey, maybe they’ll do it as a couple. That’s actually the smart way to go about it if they’re going to continue their love jones.

That’s the kind of career saving advice PR’s get paid for: I’ll take a five figure debit to my account.

New Sounds

Later this year, Dawn Richard will make her first attempt to continue the success Danity Kane had as a group. “If I Could” is a new leaked solo song off the Danity Kane Comic Book soundtrack. Not sure how that works now, given the group’s status, which is probably why it’s been pushed webside.

Dawn Richard “If I Could”

First pass I hated it. Second.. saw potential. Third it’s cool, but I’m still wondering why everyone is so stuck on the robotic computer verbs for their vocal tracks.

Reminds me of Brandy Norwood for some reason.

You might be on to something there Nearpo. That whole robotic voice feature is getting on my nerves, especially when these singers can ACTUALLY sing, like Dawn. It’s not cool or trendy, it’s just lazy and annoying.

That robotic crap has been getting on my nerves from day 1. Then when Kanye joined the group of non-singers getting away with this mess I had to start turning that shit off when I heard it on the radio.

Like mentioned: 1. She does sort of sound like Brandy, more so in the beginning. 2. This song does have some potential. 3. The “robotic voice” and other noisey musical features make the song a bit intolerable at some points.

In all, as far as the lyrics go, its a nice song, but honestly, unless she had someone do the track over, I dont think I could listen to this no more than at least 5 times max. No offense to Dawn, she is talented.

i don’t know why everybody keep on worry’n about Rihanna. she’s the one that’s making the mistake on taking him back. so there for she deserves what she gets. why sit up there and tell everyone that he hit her before. she’s needs to just leave that boy alone and get on with her life.
