Foxy Brown Writes Judge a Four Page Letter: Let Me Out of Here!

On September 7, 2007, Foxy Brown was sentenced to a one year term on Rikers Island. Today she hopes - four months later - that she can get an early release. Citing continued problems with her ear implant, which could permanently damage her hearing, Foxy Brown had her lawyer deliver a four page letter to New York State Supreme Court yesterday. The letter was an appeal for an early release, so she can get proper treatment.

Foxy Brown’s lawyer, Laura Dilimetin said, “The only doctor who has successfully treated Brown’s condition - and complications with the implant - is based in California. If her hearing is damaged any further, it will affect the way she hears and it will affect the way she sings. It will have dire consequences on her ability to maintain her profession and livelihood.”

I’ll leave the question of - hasn’t she already destroyed her career? - up in the air.

Ear troubles aren’t the only reason Foxy’s trying to escape lockdown, this whole mingling with murderers and rapists isn’t working for her either - or maybe it is.

In the letter she writes..

“Yes, I’ve made some bad choices and stupid mistakes. But please understand that sitting in a prison with murderers and criminals is not rehabilitating or what I need to deal with my inner issues.”

But that’s quickly followed with..

“Up until now, you’ve only heard about Foxy Brown the artist. I’d like to show you Inga Marchand the beautiful person that my mom raised me to be.

Jail has shaken me to my core, and my time away has impacted me greatly.”

Sounds like rehabilitation is in effect. The surface idea of jail is for the average person to be ‘shaken to the core.’ At least have it be a place you don’t want to visit ever again.

No word on the judge’s decision.

This is sad if this is all that female rap has to offer right now. If Remy Ma and Foxy Brown are whats left, then female rap is truly in trouble. I wish Eve had never left, she was really the last hope.  Hopefully the next female rapper the comes along learns from the mistakes of the last ones.

I agree, I agree, I agree. What IS happening to our female rappers? Hell, what is happening to all the rappers?
