Heather Joy Thompson is Diddy’s New Personal Assistant + Three More
A couple of months ago Diddy announced he was having a contest to find a new personal assistant. Simple rules: candidates post a video on YouTube explaining why they should get the job and he’d shake the best from the rest. Tons of videos flooded the site, but Diddy discovered he needed to clarify the qualities of a personal assistant. It was just a few days ago, with news of his Vodka deal and the Cavalli party, that I thought, who won that assistant job? That question was right on time, yesterday Diddy was on Oprah to announce the winner.
After watching thousands of videos he narrowed it down to three.
Heather Joy Thompson, has a law degree, Peace Corps, “smart.”
Cedric King, a financial conference salesman.
And Nick, whose video I won’t post because Nick was described as an ‘ambitious rapper’ and the video I found was by Nicholas Ballasy, a guy that looks like he wants to be a news reporter or kicking shoes with corporate lobbyists on Capitol Hill, not taking calls for Diddy.
Here is Diddy’s Nick.
I’m wondering if there was another layer to the selection process, because there is nothing that stands out of either of those videos that screams, “that’s my new assistant.”
Diddy thought different, he chose Heather. Why ya do dat, Diddy?
“It was just her passion, it was the way she articulated herself. I think she really understood what the job entailed. She had a background that was stellar, being a lawyer and her work in the Peace Corps. And just the way she came across, you know.”
Let me rewind. When you watch Heather’s video, not looking to be entertained or after the numberless that instantly identify themselves as unqualified in the first ten seconds, then you can see why her video popped out. Cedric’s is still a mystery.
Diddy told Cedric and Nick to keep grinding. Maybe they’ll get a makeover and enter the next round. That’s right, Diddy said he’s got one new personal assistant, but he needs three.
The next three assistants will be selected on a new Apprentice-like reality show on VH1.
Expect a lot of bridge skipping for cheesecake and a remix of Trump’s fingerpoint and phrase, “You’re Fired!”

I think Heather Joy was great! She was truthfully over qualified for the Job. But if you are diddy you would be stupid to pass on a lawyer! But, I would like to say that Cedric gave a great answer and Diddy and the crowd went crazy. So if it was up to the reaction from crowd I would say that Cedric should have been chosen. Nic was good but I think it was definitely between Heather and Cedric. Well just like the Apprentice runner ups there is always other opportunities!!!

I have know Heather since she was in College and she was always bound for greatness! Sean is smart and I hope he knows that he has on of Spelman’s best students. Plus she is just cool people and being from Detroit she doesn’t take much mess either. That’s what he needs. Someone unstar stuck that is going to have his back!
Good for Heather!! I was reading this on GlobalGrind.com and they were talking about how they were surprised he picked her. You’re definitely right h2, she is over qualified but he is REALLY lucky to have her!

I think I had a better video but Heather is Clearly more qualified even tho I dont feel this position is that hard intellectually as it is Physically and mentally demanding.. I mean Puffy is a workaholic… The hours are probably out of control…I thought a younger person like an apprentice would be a better fit so he can mold them into a power player…ahwell Congrats to the winner…she still deserved it..
Wow! I see there is tons of feedback out there on several sites about the diddy position. First again I would like to say great job to the finalist! Then I would like to tell JJ Chung if he thinks he was better why wasn’t he invited to the show??? Guess they thought different. Now to the finalist. Nic seem to be a little shy? Heather answer was really good and she has all the asset puff needs. But will see really be able to carry bags and etc… But again who am I to question puff decision. And Cedric an interesting guy. He had the look, gave an outstanding answer. If you didn’t know you would have sworn that he was going to get it. His picture was the first up out of the three and he gave his answer last. The way it was set up it looks like the Kid had it. But, Diddy though otherwise. Maybe Diddy didn’t pick him because he didn’t want someone around him who looks better than him?? This is a ploy.. Diddy is all about commercialization… All and I mean ALL his projects fail… hello he made three bands and ALL of them has failed.. he only does this to keep Bad Boy from bankruptcy… I mean no one on his label is putting out any songs nor albums. I feel bad for Heather because she is over qualified… and if the Devil Wears Prada movie taught me anything… personal assistances are overly worked on jobs that are demeaning… I wish a muthaf**ka would make me walk a dog… I mean no one in this world has so much power that will make you do demeaning things… She might not walk to Juniors but she will defintely be getting his over demanding ass some cheesecake!!! Assistant jobs should mainly focus on the work it self. I think Diddy probably hired a lawyer for his personal assistant for those times he’ll need legal advice and assistance. ...but I’m sure she’ll be an asset to his team.
