Mike Huckabee Stands Up for Barack Obama and Jeremiah Wright

Yesterday, Mike Huckabee was a guest on Morning Joe. The host, Joe Scarborough, can barely contain his aversion for Barack Obama’s success. From the start of the primaries he has treated Obama as a cute experiment. He has this way about him where he’ll say, I was inspired or it was historic, and you know he doesn’t mean it, because it’s followed with a slick implication that Hillary will win the next state.

Of course, that next state didn’t happen until Texas and Ohio, so he’s had a hard time having to praise someone he doesn’t believe in.

The upheaval caused by Jeremiah Wright’s comments has given Joe Scarborough a subject he can sink his teeth into. Like a pitbull - he won’t let it go.

So Mike Huckabee walks in the studio to give his take on the situation. It’s easy to see what Joe was looking for, the Republican preacher would walk in and give Barack Obama a serious tongue lashing - how could he not?

To Joe Scarborough’s surprise (and admitedly mine) Mike Huckabee understood Barack Obama’s position and the context of Jeremiah Wright’s comments.

Joe leaned back and agreed with him.. until he left the studio.

He doesn’t get to it until 3:35.

High praise for Mike Huckabee and an indictment of Joe Scarborough. Scarborough’s anecdote at the end was a prototypical racist statement. If you follow the logic, then his problem with Obama is not “guilt by association” with Rev. Wright but is instead the fact that Obama is black and therefore shares the feelings of the students in his story.

Also, look up the tuskgee experiment

which injected
syphillis
in black men

.. and then tell me its outrageous for some black americans to think that the government could have infected us with a disease.

Just made me all the more proud of the man I supported for president!  Mike Huckabee is a brilliant, principled, compassionate man who could give so much to this country. If anyone can give us vertical politics (not so much about the right or left, just better) it is this man!! I will continue to support Mike Huckabee, hopefully as John McCain’s vp in that ticket in November.

Huckabee is a class act all the way around.  He wouldn’t dis McCain and he wouldn’t dis Obama.  He is just a good guy, through and through.  He gives people the benefit of the doubt.  Truly a great American.  Too bad he is not going to be the next president, unless that miracle does happen.  I’ll tell you what, it’s a miracle I’m praying for.

Huckabee is the man I supported for President.  More and more people are waking up to his principled, compassionate leadership.  Too bad they believed all the stupid sound bites about him, early on, and didn’t do any of their own research to find out the truth.

The other Republican candidates have just faded away - but Mike Huckabee will be back.  He is what America needs.  I, too, am praying for his miracle.

I supported Huckabee for over a year, and people could see my response to unfair and untrue attacks on him as bias for my favorite candidate.

But, I don’t have a bias for Joe Scarborough.  I like him just fine.  But, he’s never been a source for me and he isn’t running for anything.  But, Tom, that comment was typical ion that it said nothiong about the target but a lot about the predispositions of the speaker.  We should know better anyway, but to look at that conversation and ascribe racism to Scarborough is ridiculous.  What a horrible dimension you must live in.

Larry:  What do mean, my “predispositions”?  Based on a two sentence post, how could you possibly know anything about me?  I definitely stand by my previous observation.  What did the young Joe Scarborough infer about white people based on fact that Reagan’s actual assailant, John Hinckley, was white?  (And so, incidently, were Sara Jane Moore, “Squeaky” Fromme, Lee Harvey Oswald, etc.)  Joe Scarborough’s point was clear: The fact that the students whose comments he overheard were of African ancestry was evidence, in his mind, that other people of African ancestry shared their opinions (or outlook, or “anger” as Scarborough put it.)  This type of reasoning is racist, pure and simple.

One final note Larry, I happen to be white.  Is that what you assumed?

I know this is off topic but…

Are we sure the gov’t injected syphilis into the men? Or were they following men that were already infected? I tried looking but didn’t happen to find anything. If anyone could shed light on this for me, and a credible source so I can expand my mind it would be appreciated

BTW - I too am a Huckabee supporter.  I’m sure he will be back in 4 years.
