As for Ms. Minaj, I don’t particularly like her music but I can respect her hustle.  I think the “hate” is coming from a place of people legitimately yearning for a return of female lyricists who talk about more than barbies and sex.  I’ll give her credit being a catalyst for the return of female rappers.  People are realizing that the female perspective is definitely missing in rap right now.  However until those female rappers get their break, stop acting like the men and getting into trouble (i.e. Da Brat, Remy Ma, Foxy Brown & Lil Kim) Niki will have her shine.
She may have a gimmick but its working right now, and until someone comes up with something better she’ll continue to dominate the airwaves.
