By now the only person who hasn’t heard Jay-Z’s “Blue Magic” is possibly shaking off the effects of a blunt object induced coma - stay off those dark corners. Dark and shady is also the imagery used for Jay-Z’s “Blue Magic” video trailer/slash commercial for the new album. I have to say I was not a fan of the song on its own. The bare bones beat Pharrell has Jay riding on is way too lean. His paraphrased words from an interview in Scratch magazine - sometimes a beat sounds good as it is.
“Blue Magic” to my ears sounded like Pharrell got that first taste of sweetness and was too lazy to top it off with the whip cream and sprinkles.
Another listen at high volume did make me appreciate Jay’s lyrics; still needed more not to be cautious about this whole “American Gangster” inspirational project. A good video can fill in the blanks where an artist’s vision isn’t clear. This “Blue Magic” video does just that.
You gotta love for all the drug dealing images, what they’re actually pushing are copies of the “Blue Magic” CD.
I hope they using that background beat for something. That beat is hot for real. The blue magic beat is straight up 80s hip hop style. If you weren’t there you can’t understand it. I guess this is why he foreshadowed the line from Rakim’s “My Melody” line. I leave that one for your to do some homework. Switch it around, it still comes out R… or J
i went to High school with the kid in the trailer.
This song is hot!! This man is soooo sexy. I luv Jay-Z.

I like it.
