Ron Isley Asking President Bush For Some Scooter Love

In today’s you gotta be kidding me news..

Facing a three year jail sentence for tax evasion, Ron Isley of the Isley Brothers is asking President George W. Bush for some slack.

Last September he was convicted of five counts of income tax evasion.

With millions of dollars in assets, he declared bankruptcy after the IRS seized his yacht, cars and other property. Prosecutors accused him of not paying taxes in 1997, 2001 and making a partial payment in 2002. Some details of the case involved him having money in hard to find accounts and depositing his deceased brother’s royalty checks, without reporting the income, and using them to partially fund the Mr. Big lifestyle.

Ron Isley plead not guilty on all charges.

During the trial his lawyer hotly argued that two of his accountants had unfortunately died, making it difficult to get his financial records together for the years in question.

That didn’t work out from him.

Ron Isley was sentenced to three years in federal prison.

His term begins August 7th.

U.S. District Judge Dean Pregerson refused to give him any less time than called for under federal guidelines, “The term serial tax avoider has been used. I think that’s appropriate,’‘ Pregerson said.

Isley’s attorney argued that he deserved probation, citing his current efforts to pay back the money he owes and health concerns. He had a stroke two years ago and his now being treated for kidney cancer.

With less than two weeks before his 25th hour, Ron Isley and Def Jam executives are hoping that President Bush will give him a presidential pardon.

Are there some funny greens being smoked in the Isley mansion?

As much love and respect I have for the Isley Brothers music..

.. to think that President Bush is going to come out of hiding (have you seen him lately?) to give a singer a “Stay Out of Prison” card is something talked up during a smoke session.

Let me see, the last Bush pardon commutation went to his Republican pal Scooter Libby.. for all kinds of CIA leak/inside stuff.. and the next .. Ron Isley of the Isley Brothers for not paying his taxes.

The list of Bush’s 113 presidential pardons is Wiki’d. Lots of drug dealers, firearm dealers, money laundering, a food stamp fraud case (!) and yes.. some convicted tax evaders.

For Bush a Ron Isley pardon could give the black vote to the republicans next year. <

< that's a joke

Isley supporters are urging his fans to call, fax or email the White House immediately.

He's got two weeks. Do it today.

I THINK WHAT RON TRIED TO DO WAS SMART. HE KNOWS THAT THIS PRESIDENT IS CROOKED AND ABUSES HIS POWER AND GETS AWAY WITH IT SO WHY NOT TRY IT. HE GOT HIS HOMEY OUT OF JAIL SO WHY NOT GET A HOMEY OUT?
