Sean Bell Tragedy - How You Can Help

Right after I finished the previous post I got this email from a Whudat friend. Self-explanatory.

To All My Friends, Family and Loved Ones:

I usually am not the one who sends forwards or even ask for help, but in light of the recent shooting of South Jamaica of 3 unarmed black men by the NYPD.

Sean Bell, was to married just 12 hours before he was murdered, however 5 police officers saw fit to send 50 shots into his Nissan Altima, killing him and wounding his 2 friends who were supposed to be in attendance at the nuptials.

Being that I am originally from South Jamaica Queens, and have been moved by this tragedy I have been inspired to send this email to everyone that I know who is willing to help me in my efforts.

I was watching Larry King Live on CNN and Nicole Paultre (Sean Bell’s fiance) was on the show with Al Sharpton. She was very poised and strong in her attempts to remain strong and let everyone know the type of person that Sean Bell was. Well to make a long story short, I sent an email question in that Larry King asked her live on the air, and to my chagrin, I found out that Sean was the only breadwinner in the family and that Nicole is currently unemployed.

When I heard this I became even more disgusted. As a parent myself I knew that there was something that I needed to do.

They have 2 little girls (ages 3 yrs and 6 months) who will never hear from their father ever again, and I am sure after the funeral, many bills are going to continue to pile for this young 23 year old mom.

So my plea to you all today is to help me to help them in raising some money to send to this young woman. I personally will be sending $200, but whatever you want to send to this woman is up to you. It can be $5. It can be a buck. Whatever you feel lead of to send to Nicole will be more than appreciated. I know that this is the season of giving, so instead of buying that PlayStation 3, give to someone who we all know needs it. Even if you would like to buy the girls some toys, let me know and I will pick them up from you and drop them off to the church.

For all monetary donations, please send them to the church that Nicole Paultre attends in South Jamaica, the address is listed below. Make all checks (please no rubber ones), money orders, and cashier’s checks out to Nicole Paultre, and mail them to the church that they were supposed to be
married at, but instead hosted Sean’s funeral.
