Survivor Finale: What Would You Choose, 2008 Ford Truck or a Million Dollars?

Not sure how many Survivor watchers come around this part of the web, or anywhere else for that matter. Apparently this season was one the least watched of the 14. I thought it was one of the better ones. Missed the last one, maybe that one sucked. Regardless, this is something anyone can relate to, we’re going to play a game of What Would You Choose?, to keep a 2008 Ford truck or a chance to win a million dollars?

How about both the truck and the million?

Last night was the Survivor finale, the winner of that million dollar prize was Earl Cole - an ad executive from Kansas City.

Earl said he’s giving his mother half of the million dollars. Blah, blah and yada, yada..

Earl was a great player, deserved to win, but the big talk surrounding last night’s show is less about the winner or that the three finalists were black..

I don’t make a big deal out of this.. an equal shot, equal chances at winning..

..it’s a question of a man keeping is word.

A few weeks ago a player nicknamed Yao-Man won a challenge.

The prize was this 2008 Ford truck.

Earlier in the day Yao-Man overheard a player named Dreamz (looking like Dwayne Wade’s cousin)..

..talk dreamily about possibly winning a car in the upcoming challenge. Having heard that, and knowing Dreamz didn’t have a car at home, Yao-Man offered Dreamz a deal for the truck.

All Dreamz had to do was give Yao-Man immunity from being voted off the show, if he won the fourth challenge. The fourth challenge, being one Tribal Council away from the final vote, would give Yao-Man a 1 out of 3 chance at winning the million dollars; vice-versa for Dreamz if he didn’t go for Yao’s deal.

So the first question.. Do you accept the deal for the truck or keep the better odds for the million dollars?

Dreamz happily chose the truck.

A few hours later he realized that he made a bad deal.

“I could buy 12 trucks with a million dollars,” said Dreamz.

The catch was Yao-Man’s deal wasn’t enforceable, he can’t make up the rules.

The folks behind Survivor told Dreamz he didn’t have to honor the deal - that he could keep the truck and the odds for winning the million.

But all the players expected him to live up to his word.

When it came to the fourth challenge, Dreamz won, said he was going to honor the deal, and show his son, watching at home, that a man sticks to his word.

He said this knowing that once he took off the immunity necklace, the other players would vote him off the show.

So when Dreamz was asked to hand the necklace to Yao-Man, with tears in his eyes and rolling down his face, Dreamz chose to keep the truck and go for the million dollars.

I laughed, because Yao-Man got shafted, but it was a dumb move.

The other players in the game decide who wins at the final Tribal Council.

Dreamz knew he would be voted off if he gave up the immunity necklace, but by breaking the deal, he had already lost.

Maybe one, but not 5 people were going to vote for him to win a million dollars, after ‘stealing’ the truck and shafting the most liked player in the game.

Like they were gonna say, “Wow, that was a great move. Now take the cash too.”

Dreamz made a bad deal from jump, his only option to get out of it was to give the truck back before that fourth challenge.

It was a lose-lose situation.

He made it lose x3

  1. Yao-Man would have won the million, not Earl.
  2. He had no chance to win the million. (He got zero votes)
  3. Now all anyone asks him is why he didn’t keep his word.

Flip the decision and it would be how he lost, but what a great of a guy he is.

Dumb deal, great guy.

Now it’s dumb deal, snake eyes.. but still kinda likeable, in a ‘he didn’t know any better’ kind of way.

What would you have done? Truck or the cash, or both?

4 Jared Mon, May 14, 2007 - 11:05 pm

I would have kept my word…One small step for a simple minded black man - One giant leap backwards for the entire n***r nation…

It is funny how not one black person even understands how rid*cklas (that is how most blacks pronounce it) the three of those bozos acted by using Yau Man to get to the final and then toss him aside…Losers…Must make them proud to be black…

Sorry, I stopped reading in the first paragraph after you admitted you didn’t watch last season. This was one of the worst seasons; last season was one of the best. These guys were forgettable until Dreamz’s betrayal at the end. How can you expect to have any credibility with readers if you label this season one of the best? Don’t admit what you haven’t watched in the first paragraph.

did the runners up each get $100,000?

8 Dreamz sucks Tue, May 15, 2007 - 3:37 am

How can you condone lying to someone
to try to win?  Yao-Man had integrity
and his only mistake was being too trusting.

KD.. This season was the best, last season was the best, at the end of the day it’s an opinion. And I said MAYBE last season sucked, jokingly, with no further words. Credibility gets slapped around if I said I didn’t see any of this season and then went on and on about how great it was.

But anyway, yeah.. last season sucked. *jokes*

Gweny..
Dreamz and Cassandra both won $100,000

I’m suggesting you not mention what you don’t know. The first rule of writing ... write what you know. When you admit you don’t know something, why should I read? I watched all 14 seasons. What can you tell me if you don’t watch what I watch? This is my advice as an editor.

Dreamz has just confirmed what most whites already sterotype blacks with.
Thx Dreamz.

I would have taken the truck ,lost the challenge purposely if I was not going to live up to my word and then let the chips fall where they may..no chance of winning regardless and that way you haven’t screwed anyone or gone back on your word and then that “lesson” for your son would be intact.

One of the dumbest moves in Survivor history. And the stories are already out there about how even his hometown folks are disgusted with him. His momma is trying to make him auction off the truck and give the money to charity, she is so embarrassed!

14 Orenthal Thu, May 17, 2007 - 7:18 am

I’m talking Colby-level dumb.

15 bozo Fri, May 18, 2007 - 10:28 am

I don’t think Dreamz has a license to drive a car in the first place.  Good luck dumb shit!

16 dreamt Fri, May 18, 2007 - 9:46 pm

well he won the $100,000

17 bozo Sat, May 19, 2007 - 1:31 pm

By the way, he’ll have to pay a lot of backpay child support from that money, since we all know he is a dead beat with everyone.  He still comes out as a dumb shit, since he came out on national TV as a backstabing piece of shit.

18 $100,000 Tue, May 22, 2007 - 1:38 am

He had to keep the necklace to get the 100,000.  He knew he wouldn’t get the million.  Did anyone in the country truly think the black man would keep his word?  With $100,000 he’ll be rich for a week or two.
