Taraji P. Henson Celebrates Oscar Nomination at Maestro’s Steakhouse

From could be to reality, last Thursday, Taraji P Henson was nominated for an Oscar for her role as Queenie in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button; look for her in the Best Supporting Actress category. The next morning Taraji was interviewed on The Early Show on CBS. She was ‘knocked out’ when the Oscar nominations were announced.. “I was comatose. ... I have a great group of friends, and they knew that I was gonna be angst. And they took me out the night before for a fabulous dinner. And then we went out for music and dancing just so I could have a light night and not think about it. And the tactic worked, because I got home. I was wiped out. And I was knocked out.”

Q-Tip Celebrates “The Renaissance” at the Bowery Hotel

It looks like Q-Tip will finally get that album on store shelves (and iTune menus). His second solo excursion The Renaissance will be available on election day. So you can either listen to it during the big celebration or the big tune out ↔ Up top, that’ll be the look on everyone’s faces if McCain/Palin are elected by an edge; and try to find any young person that will take politics seriously anymore. Won’t happen. I’m betting the American people are ready for a revival of the spirit and intellectual stimulation ie. a renaissance. Let’s celebrate.

BZZZ! It’s The Secret Life of Bees Premiere

Last night The Secret Life of Bees premiered at The Academy Of Motion Arts & Sciences in Beverly Hills. The movie is an adaptation of the book by the same name written by Sue Monk Kidd. Don’t know a thing about it? Just picture Dakota Fanning (up above) in the early 60’s South having to leave her town after her nanny (Jennifer Hudson) insults a group of white men. They high tail it to Tiburon, South Carolina, in part to look for “the black madonna” and meet a group of black women who change Dakota’s life.

Nia Long’s Rules For Dating and No Love For Chocolate Milk

Last night Nia Long was on The Late Showt with Craig Ferguson, she had no movie to push, no perfume line in the works and thank God, she hasn’t transformed into a singer. Nia Long is starring in ABC’s new drama Big Shots. Elevator pitch.. it’s “the story of four friends who are at the top of their game until the women in their lives enter the room. These competitive but dysfunctional New York CEOs take refuge in their friendship, discussing business, confiding secrets, seeking advice and supporting one another through life’s twists and turns.”

Nia Long plays one of the CEO’s work wife. Anyone who’s worked in an office for a long time knows that it can become your second home. You’re there so much, you could find yourself being closer to the people in the office more so than your own family… or spouse. Nia Long’s that person to this guy, hence the “work wife” tag.
