50 Cent Shoots Back at Alicia Keys: I Don’t Like You No More!
In a wide-ranging interview on rhapsody.com, 50 Cent was asked what he thought of Alicia Key’s comments about gangsta rap. Leave it to 50 to make it about himself..
What did you think of Alicia Keys’ comments regarding gangsta rap in Blender?
50 Cent:“I don’t like Alicia Keys no more.”
She clarified the comments, though.
50 Cent:“If she thinks what they consider to be gangsta music is made to bring black people down then I think my shit falls into that category. I don’t like people who don’t like me. I don’t like her then because that’s what provides the life for me.
I think if you ask Ice Cube the same shit, he’ll tell you, “Fuck Alicia Keys” for even saying that. Because the success he’s had as an actor and a businessman, there was no opportunity for that shit without N.W.A. But I don’t think that her classical shit is cool. I don’t give a fuck if you can classically play the piano. I haven’t been classically trained, because my upbringing, nobody put me in front of a piano at that time. If they did, I would know how to do it as well as she does. I could learn how to play the piano if I was passionate about it right now.
That’s obviously my perspective evaluating what she does, and I could fucking care less about the shit. So she don’t like the music that embodies the harsh realities because they’re not her realities. She hasn’t been subjected to the same things.”

50 thinks Alicia Keys is putting down Dr. Dre, Ice Cube and oh yeah.. himself? He’s got to be the only person I’ve heard outside of a comment box that thinks it was an attack on the music. She was talking about the way the term gangsta rap was used by the media to sensationalize the stories of West Coast rappers and to pump the East Coast/West Coast beef.
The sad part is 50 felt the need to kick and scream about it..

I don’t think 50 is as uneducated as people are making him out to be, however his comments are misguided. I don’t think he quite understood the underlying issues Alicia was talking about. I would think 50 is smart enough to know that you can’t believe everything you read. Someone as well connected as him could have easily contacted Ms. Keys and gotten the story straight from her. But then again, that would mean that he would actually have to care about someone other than himself, and we all know he suffers from narcissism every now and again.
