Barack Obama’s Grandmother Fights Back: My Grandson is a Christian

Sarah Hussein Onyango Obama, Grandmother of Barack Obama spoke to the Associated Press about the pictures being circulated of Barack in Somali elder’s dressing and the accusation that he is a Muslim. In her local tongue, Luo, Sarah expressed her displeasure, “Untruths are told that don’t have anything to do with what Barack is about. I am very against it. Bringing such pictures that are trying to imply that not only is he a foreigner, he is a Muslim, is wrong, because that is not what he is.”

So where does his middle name, Hussein, come from?

Sarah explained that Barack Obama’s grandfather converted from Roman Catholicism to Islam, in that switch he chose the name Hussein and his children inherited the name - not the religion. Barack Obama’s father passed it down to him as well - only as a middle name.

Although she is a lifelong Muslim, Barack Obama she said is a practicing Christian.

The NY Times posted a thorough article on this last year.

A Candidate, His Minister and the Search for Faith

Barack Obama speaks in Trinity United Church of Christ

“Each person should be able to choose how they worship. In the world of today, children have different religions from their parents,” Sarah said.

Barack and Sarah Obama in Kenya

Barack has visited his family in Kenya three times. Sarah visited Barack in the U.S. twice.

Last Tuesday, friends and family were at Sarah’s house to watch the primary results. One of her friends had to bring the TV with them - Sarah doesn’t own a TV.

Barack’s half-sister Auma Obama proves it isn’t just middle names passed around the family - there is some of that optimistic attitude in the air too. Asked about the ‘losses’ he took in Ohio and Texas, Auma responded, “Barack’s done extremely well and we’re very proud of him. This is like a football match. The game continues.”

I am not sure why we talk about race/color of person when comes the question of better qualified for president. In my opinion Obama will change the perception of politics. At present no one really believe the politicians but I am sure this will change after OBAMA as president.

Thanks…

Such a bogus Article..Nothing will come of it, Not as much as the Obama dirt,
With that slum lord who was indited,, That is funny how Obama saying on the news
That he Trying to give back the money,, When Hilary had problems with someone who
Gave her who got in trouble, She gave the money right back,, No Obama,,
He say he trying to give it away Ya he is to running adds… Obama will get caught
More so than this Clinton Dirt Add, every time the Obama Cult come out with
there so called Dirt, it hits him back Ten folds,,Obama has his own trouble
Like not winning any big states then this pathectic Dirt attempt
Obama was already caught lying about Nafta..
So true,,, soon your going to say when Obama live on the news telling reporters No one in his campaign meet with Canadians leader,,,than a few days later ,Obama back tracked,, ya they met but it not what was said,,,,, If Obama don’t know what his own top guys,,, he not going to be much of a leader, No one made Obama lied on tv,,, that all Obama,,, plain and simple,,, can’t blame Hilary,, for that,,, that why I am switching my Vote for Hilary…..

He can not win a big state no matter what anyone say He can not get elected with out winning a big state, and because he lied about Nafta, No matter how you cut it,, He lied on video that now one from his campaign meet with the canadians,, but ti was true, show you how barack going to run the show, and because of his wife
Michelle Obama is hurting Barack Campaign she need to get off the campaign trail,,, Really she look like Mike tyson with Hair for god sakes.

Barack is not going to win the presidency,,
He can not even win 1 big state,,, Everyone is caught up in this Barack Obama magic show, the democrats just gave this campaign away to the republicans, Barack will never see the white House only if he takes a tour,,, The Obama campaign
think if Hilary gone he will pick up the other half of the Democratic votes,,, that is where he is wrong,,,He will only pick up a third of Hilary votes, the there 2/3 well half of them are going to act like obama voter if obama don’t win they are not going to vote ,,, 1/3 of Hilary voter will not vote,,and the other third is like me I voted for Hilary
I am voting for Experience, which is Hilary,, if Hilary is pushed out ,, My vote like tens of thousands are going to vote for McCain,,, If Obama get Hilary to be her vice president,, Obama will still lose, but if Hilary win she will take the presidency Obama can be vice president,, so he can get On the job training ,,,, this is the only way its going to work,,, American people are so dumb,, thinking Obama got a shot, even tho he has not won a single big state it going to matter,, Even the Media is finally see that..
Who has more experience, well in order
1 Hilary
2 Ron Paul
3 McCain
4 Barack
That sums it up right there, Hilary in this for the long haul She is fighting Barack , McCain & the Media and she still doing good,, She has half the democratic votes, LOL
Now that is funny,,,,, Do the math,,,

3 Hilary's experience Wed, Mar 12, 2008 - 3:43 pm

I don’t think you can count “supposed” experience gained by marriage as I am sure she was not on the VP level that she is inferring.

i am a texan and i really do believe, along with a lot of other voters and potential voters, that barack could have won texas… it was so unorganized at the polls… we are able to cast 2 votes for the candidate of our choice but because of the overwhelming number of people that came out to vote and not having enough people to assist the number of people that showed up, barack lost. this is fact… people were turned away at some polling stations, elderly people standing for hours and hours, finally getting fed up and leaving, for the people that weathered the storm and stayed til 3a.m. (what dedication), think about the people that couldn’t stay til then to cast their 2nd vote, think about the people that got discouraged because they were not able to vote because lines were so long, see the difference their vote would have made be washed away because the state or should i say houston wasn’t prepared… if you lived here and saw first hand what was really going on and not just what was aired on tv; you would have a different opinion about your soon to be president because he will win!! even with all the obstacles that seem to come about… therefore, if things would have been correct and in order he would have won this big state of TEXAS!!!!

Obama is a great choice for President. His ability to preach the praise of “One America” and America for all is just what this country needs after George Bush. He would make a magnificent President and any one who decides to vote for Mccain over Obama just because Hilliry Clinton is not the winner would risk Giving George Bush another term, build more resentment in the world and continue to put the US into a Recession.A better America is with Obama and the One United America

Smoke another bowl of what ever you are already smoking there Popeye. The man is a fake and an elitist that despises 90% of what this country stands for…..

You must be a white person t. Why do you people say that anyone who isn’t 100% white despises what this “country” stands for? He wants change, He wants to unite the country, and who would be a better person than some whitey who only wants to hold everyone else back.
