That’s not a retro shot. It’s Jennifer Lopez circa 2009, looking 3 years younger and baby weight-free for Vanity Fair’s photographic recreation of the 1961 movie West Side Story. They call it, West Side Story Revisited. The spread was done in anticipation of the movie getting its first shot on Broadway at the Palace Theater on March 19. Jennifer Lopez isn’t in the play. A missed opportunity, for sure. She makes a great Anita/Rita Moreno in this shot. Jennifer Lopez said she has watched West Side Story 37 times and it inspired her to become a Fly girl, “I never wanted to be that wimpy Maria, who sits around pining for her guy. I wanted to be Anita, who danced her way to the top.”
Ah, the top. Remember the Bennifer days? Remember when Puffy switched his name to P. Diddy and tagged her with the forever sticky J.LO? Jennifer Lopez sure does. It’s been reported that, these days, she feels like a has been on the celebrity meter. In order to make things right, she hopes to push out a few projects that will get her career back in shape. However, her husband, Marc Anthony wants more kids. Jennifer’s response?.. “I was like, ‘Let me work just a little bit first, Let me get a couple things out there one song, one movie, something.”
So far that work consists of a single low-budget movie called Plan B.
(no pun intended) 😉
