“Monster” Forces an Obama Aide to Resign: It Really is Silly Season

Samantha Power, a foreign policy advisor for Barack Obama, resigned today, after The Scotsman printed an interview where she talked about Obama’s loss in Ohio and called Hillary Clinton a “monster.”

“We f***** up in Ohio. In Ohio, they are obsessed and Hillary is going to town on it, because she knows Ohio’s the only place they can win.

She is a monster, too – that is off the record – she is stooping to anything.

Here, it looks like desperation. I hope it looks like desperation there, too.

You just look at her and think, ‘Ergh’. But if you are poor and she is telling you some story about how Obama is going to take your job away, maybe it will be more effective.

The amount of deceit she has put forward is really unattractive.”

That was all the Clinton campaign needed to hear: they called for Power to be fired immediately. This afternoon Samantha Power stepped down from her position. Pro-Clinton bloggers and media outlets have gone on and on asking the question.. Is this the kind of new politics Obama is talking about?

Complete nonsense.

An aide to Obama’s campaign mentions Hillary is a monster ie. she will do anything to win - something everyone says and knows is truth and it is cause for all this attention?

Last night news dripped out of Canada that Hillary Clinton reassured them she wouldn’t pull out of NAFTA.

“‘NAFTAgate’ Began with Remark from Harper’s Chief of Staff”

“Quite a few people heard it.. He said someone from (Hillary) Clinton’s campaign is telling the embassy to take it with a grain of salt. . . That someone called us and told us not to worry.”

Before the Ohio primary, Barack Obama was accused of double-speaking on NAFTA. Obama had to re-explain his position. Hillary Clinton denied she spoke to the Canadian government at all. Yet, there is a fresh story - with names and faces - that claims otherwise.

But today all we’re talking about is .. Samantha called Hillary a monster?

Barack Obama defined silly season as the reason people get fed up with politicians and stop believing anything will ever get done in the government. I think he’s got that right.
