Mya is Liberated from Flashbulb Relationships and Her Stalkerish Ways

Mya may or may not have an album in stores sometime in the possible near future. First Universal Motown must decide when or if she’s worthy or not of a spot on their release schedule, once it’s been determined that she’s possibly created a song that lives up to the standards of the rhythm & blues Gods.

Notice the wild non-commitment? Mya’s Liberation album has been swimming in that kind of uncertainty for four years. Her last album was released in 2003, but it seems like she hasn’t had a song that anyone really listened to since the fun on the beach with Jay-Z.

Her new album was pushed from Sept 18 and now has a release date of Oct. 23rd.

This “Ridin” video has been floating around for a few weeks.

She also sang it in the flesh at Spotlight Live in NYC

Mya’s been doing interviews where she can get them. Over in the UK, she hit up The Voice and broke down the liberated nature of her album.

“Ridin” and the stalking <

< true story?

The name of my new album is Liberation, so I wanted to share a little personal experience so that people could understand one of the things I’d been liberated from. The first single “Ridin” is about a situation where I was in love - and when I’m in love, I have a tendency to get a little possessive and obsessive. In order to find out the truth about a situation, I followed this person - drove around and stalked them out a little bit.

I needed some closure so I could move on with my life. But I really don’t wanna be that person again. I’ve been single for a while now and I’m happy.”

Rumors of having Sisqo’s baby and those flashbulb relationships

“I’ve heard all kinds of things about myself. I heard that I’d had Sisqo’s baby, that I was dating a rapper, that I was dating an actor - all kinds of things. People believe what they want to believe and I can’t do much about that. I can’t help it if I go to dinner with my brother and it appears in the media that I was out with a new man! I’m like, ‘That’s my brother!’ But ultimately, that kind of thing is just part of the job.

That’s another thing I feel liberated from; that fear of what people will say. I don’t let that kind of thing bother me any more.”
