Nas and Chrisette Michele

Nas and Chrisette Michele on David Letterman

Thank Chad and Guy for YouTube. I’m on the computer last night, in the finals of NBA Live, and David Letterman is on, in a background noise kinda way. Letterman announces that Nas is about to perform and I’m thinking it must be an old show. His album’s been out for months. So do I pause for the 3 minutes and change it would take to record it? Nope.

I did pause, frozen from a truly dynamic performance of “Can’t Forget About You”, with Chrisette Michele.

It was an old show though. Taped in February.

Nas starts off looking and sounding like a rapper out of his element - late night, middle age white audience. Then Chrisette Michele kicks in and elevates the level and feel of the performance. You can see Nas smile, getting more into it, she’s already there.

At the end of the song he walks over to hold her hand. Kelis will like that.

They really shut it down.

Who is Chrisette Michele? She sings the hook on Jay-Z’s “Lost Ones.”

Also happens to be in this month’s Vibe.

Another reason to pick it up 😉

Here’s the video, minus HD quality. Somebody buy this guy a cable connection.

I remember when I first found out she was gettin singed to def jam and i was jumpin for joy. a lot of us from five towns are in this music hustle and it’s always good to see one of us get on top!
