SNL - Tracy Morgan's Pro-Barack Obama moment

Tracy Morgan on Saturday Night Live: Black is the New President!

Heading into the Texas and Ohio primaries, Tina Fey made a return to Saturday Night Live to give a pro-Hillary Clinton/what’s the problem with her?’ monologue. Letting everyone know who’s really in style, Tina Fey screamed, “B*tch is the new black!”

During the Ohio debate, Hillary Clinton referenced another SNL skit to say she’s been getting all the tough questions during the debates.. “Maybe we should ask Barack if he’s comfortable and needs another pillow.” That weekend Hillary Clinton actually appeared on SNL - laughing it up with Amy Poehler.

Hillary won Texas and Ohio the following week. Did Saturday Night Live put her over the top? Some people thought so and accused SNL of having a pro-Hillary Clinton bias

SNL - Amy Poehler - Hillary Clinton

Why that’s a problem for a comedy sketch show is a mystery to me. Do you have to be fair and balanced in comedy? I don’t see why. Not with all the joke money made off of George Bush’s brilliant mind the last eight years: office calendars, fart cushions, Bushy playing cards.

Saturday Night Live executive producer Lorne Michaels denied any lean toward Hillary Clinton. He said SNL has made fun of lots of political candidates over the years. The skit’s writers added, “we were just trying to be funny.”

While I feel they have the right to take jabs - which they were - a show with nothing but anti-Barack/pro Hillary skits is a show I would choose not to watch. That’s the risk of being opinionated.. you have your fun, but potentially alienate viewers. If the company isn’t of the ‘fuck it’ mindset, they bend over and take it.

That’s what SNL did this weekend.

Using Geraldine Ferraro’s comment as a springboard, SNL brought Tracy Morgan back for a pro-Barack Obama moment. He boomeranged Tina Fey’s, “bitch is the new black”..

“Bitch ain’t the new black. Black is the new President, Bitch!”

You know, all due respect and everything. They work together. 😊

Yeah! Love you, Tracy Morgan.  Finally, SNL does the right thing. Look, I’m an old white lady. I do not wear shoulder pads or pants suits.  I do not drape those big, old, weird scarves around my neck.  I would rather take up knitting than vote for Hillary.  NO WAY. There are some of us old ladies whose brains have not entirely shriveled up.

Come on! SNL has been political for many years, is funny that you say “a show with nothing but anti-Barack/pro Hillary skits is a show I would choose not to watch”, ha, ha, ha, SNL never got this reaction on the Reagan campaign, on the Bush campaign etc. but a woman and a black man for president make the difference. Why?

Race and gender, welcome to America!
