The Source vs. Eminem

Okay, so yesterday morning I was listening to Benzino on New York's Hot 97 morning show. By the time I tuned in I missed a large portion of the conversation. From what I understand David Mays, who shares ownership of "The Source" magazine, was in Detroit and Eminem kind of ambushed him. I heard that Em spit on Dave or something and that stems from so many past issues that The Source and Em have had with each other over the years. Benzino was also putting Russell Simmons on blast. He called Russell a coon and said that he was wack and no one respects him.

Miss Jones, one of the show's co-hosts interjected that Russell was a "philanthropist" and Benzino said that Russell being a philanthropist is counterproductive because his wife is always on TV bragging about her million dollar gold toilet seats.

Benzino took a shot or two at 50 Cent, but nothing worth mentioning. Benzino tried to say that he has not been fueling the Eminem beef, because he has not made a song about Em in a long time. But apparently, Benzino has a new video dissing Eminem and it is supposedly a reply to Em's "Toy Soldier" video.

I know I never have too many good things to say about Benzino, his magazine, or his music, but today I was really satisfied with some of his answers. I liked that he called Russell out. I don't think Russell is a coon at all. I think he is someone who knows how to take advantage of the opportunities he's created for himself, and that's a wonderful thing. I love that he's a philanthropist. I don't care what his motives are for helping those less fortunate than himself, he's doing it and that's really all that counts.

I do have issues with Russell and Kimora. No matter what Kimora does, Russell is right there to defend her lunacy. I guess I can't really take issue with that either, because she is his wife, that is kind of his job. My real issue is not only does he defend her, he exalts her and expects the rest of the world to do the same. His disillusionment is at an all time high and nobody else is going for it. He really gets offended that the rest of the world doesn't see Kimora as some great prize.
Behind the scenes, he needs to get her image in check. Her behavior and attitude don't diminish anything he does, but when he publicly co-signs all of her antics, I'm sure everyone is looking at Mr. Do Good with a raised eyebrow.

Benzino tried to play down the Eminem beef like it was just this small thing that happened, when we all know that is not true. For reasons unbeknownst to the rest of civilization, Benzino decided that he needed to destroy Eminem's career. At one point, The Source was solely dedicated to hating on Eminem, which was a bit much. Dave Mays was on the Hot 97 morning show a few days prior to Benzino making all kinds of claims that Eminem is truly a racist and that he and his white supremacist friends used to record songs using all sorts of racial slurs.

He also disputed Eminem's story about dating a black girl, which lead him to record the song where he used the n-word amongst other derogatory terms, to describe black people. He says that Em never dated a black girl, his publicist just made that up to give some validity to him using the racial slurs. Mr. Mays claims to have the audio other than the "black girl" tape, but who knows?

Okay, so looking at those back in the day pictures of Em, I find it hard to believe a black girl or a girl of any other race, for that matter, would even give him the time of day. I can believe that the story is a lie. When asked how he knew David Mays says that he and Benzino hired a private investigator to investigate the situation. Talk about going off the deep end. It seems that Benzino and Dave Mays will stop at nothing to end Eminem's career, which is really pathetic.

David Mays said a lot of other stuff that kind of lead me believe that he and Benzino are more than a bit obsessed with Eminem. It honestly seems as though Benzino and David Mays are one Eminem accusation away from being in straight jackets. I am so ready for Benzino and David Mays to leave Eminem the hell alone. I'm not some great big Eminem fan, but they seem to be picking on him for no reason. It seems that they would have never known any of the things they know about him had they not been looking for a way to ruin him.

I am still not convinced about half of what David Mays is saying and I wouldn't care if I knew these things to be true. I'm much more disturbed with the way Benzino and David Mays are attacking Eminem than anything Eminem was doing or saying back in 1988. I have no idea if Hot 97 has the audio of either the Dave Mays or Benzino interviews up at their website, but if they do you guys should check them out.

The Road To Stardom
I was flipping through the channels last night and happened upon Missy Elliott's "The Road To Stardom" on UPN. Even though Missy has never entertained me, I stopped to see what this show was all about. I watched the show for less than 5 minutes and that was more than enough time to decide that I would not be watching again.

First of all, Missy is like this cryptic, little sapphically inclined troll. She offered the kids on the show not one iota of constructive criticism. She pretty much demoralized both of the contestants who were up to be booted off the tour bus. You would have thought Missy was God, the way she sat there talking down to them while sucking on a lollipop. Then when she got off the bus to give those two contestants her final decision, she stood there in the rain with a man servant holding an umbrella over head, Puffy-style. It was all too much for me.
She couldn't even send the loser away gracefully. Missy actually gave the eventual loser hope by saying, "You're going a lot of places and one of them is home. You're not getting on the bus". I was like, "huh". Did she really just do that? It's way too over the top. It's one thing to criticize, but Missy was very demeaning and treated those people like they were beneath her.

God bless the winner who will have the pleasure of going on tour with the little demon woman. The one good thing about the show is that Missy actually looks good--well as good as Missy can look. It's about time she used the money to make herself look presentable. She lost some weight, the make up was decent, and she was not dressed like a 15-year-old boy. For that I say, "go Missy." For the diva attitude, I say, "bitch please."

D'Angelo Arrested
Singer D'Angelo who is best known for his 1990's hit song "Brown Sugar", was arrested after a traffic stop in Richmond, VA early Sunday morning. The singer, whose birth name is Michael Eugene Archer, was charged with possession of controlled substances and driving while intoxicated. The police found what they believe to be cocaine and marijuana in the car. D'Angelo will have his day in court next Tuesday.

D'Angelo is such a waste of talent. He was arrested a little over 2 years ago for something eerily similar to this new situation. Rumors of his heroin use have been floating around forever.
Look at that mugshot photo, he looks like a man that has hit rock bottom. He's all fat and ashy. I know all the ladies remember D'Angelo's body in his "How Does It Feel" video. Boy are those days long gone. Someone needs to get him into rehab like yesterday.

Trina Is Not The Brokest Bitch....Or So She Says
Last week rumors were abound that Miami rapper Trina was broke and her $157,000 Pembroke Pines, FL home was being taken away from her due to missed mortgage payments.
Trina's publicist, C.J Robinson spoke with Sohh.com and said the rumors are false. CJ says, "The truth is the Trina recently sold her first home, a single family house valued at $300,000 to a lovely married couple. Allegedly, Trina decided that she had outgrown that home and is in the process of purchasing a $3 million dollar home.

Okay, so there are supposedly no worries about the baddest bitch becoming the brokest bitch. That's good to hear. I truly hope Trina is managing her finances better than what has been reported. I still think there is more to the story than Trina just selling her house to a married couple. She probably sold it so it wouldn't be taken away.

I also find it hard to believe that Trina can afford a $3 million dollar house. She is not selling that many albums, but more power to her. I only hope she makes those mortgage payments on time.

Carmelo And La La
Our new favorite couple, Carmelo and La La have taken their already bizarre relationship to another level. No, they aren't married yet. Melo is sporting a tattoo with LaLa's initials and LaLa is sporting the initials C.A. somewhere on her body. This one is way too easy, so we're just going to let it go.
